The best things in life are simple and this can be applied to many different areas of life. Wrapping yourself in a warm blanket on a cold day when it is snowing, reading a good book, free food, are some of those simple things that cost nothing but give us a great experience.
For this game, we kept that fact in mind and wanted to show that when it comes to party games, you don’t need to spent lots of money on board games or other materials which will eventually collect dust in the closet. You want a simple game that is fun? “yes, no, maybe” is a great drinking game without cards or any other materials.
Before you begin have all players sit in a circle and place whatever you’re drinking in the middle of the circle. You might also want to decide how many drinks a person takes for messing up. Then a player is chosen who will begin answering the questions asked by others. You can either start with the youngest / oldest player, roll some dice, or some other way.
Once you have a player that will start, this person will be asked questions by others in the circle. Before the question-and-answer session starts, the stopwatch is set to one minute. As long as the stopwatch is running, the player must now answer the questions of the other players. You can ask any questions you want of the player and all questions must be answered. However, it is forbidden to use the three words “yes”, “no” and “maybe” in the answers. If any answer contains one of these three words, then the player must drink the amount of alcohol agreed upon before the game began. It is also forbidden to answer every answer the same. So saying “I did it” twice in a row is forbidden and the player must drink if they repeat an answer like this. Once the minute is over, it is the next player’s turn going clockwise and now they must face the questions of everyone in the circle.
Although the game seems very simple it will not be the case when the drinks are flowing and your concentration isn’t at its best, so not saying the forbidden words becomes very hard since “yes”, “no” and “maybe” are used very often in everyday language. The more you drink during the game the harder it becomes to not mess up and drink more so as the game goes on it becomes more fun to play.
