About DrinkPlays

DrinkPlays is a rules reference for drinking games. It has existed since 2019 and was rebuilt in 2026 around one idea: you are reading this on a phone, at a party, and you want the rules before the next round starts.

How the pages work

Every game page opens the same way. A quick-facts strip tells you how many players it takes, what you need, how strong it is on a five-point buzz scale, and how long it runs. A two-sentence “rules in 30 seconds” block gives you the whole game. Then the full setup, the rules as numbered steps, the variations people actually play, and answers to the questions that come up at the table.

Who writes it

The rules are written by Emma Lily Carter. Each game is checked against at least three published sources and, where versions differ by country or campus, the most common version is written as the rules and the rest go under variations. House rules invented here are labeled as house rules.

Corrections and new games

If a rule is wrong, or a game you play is missing, send it through the contact page. Corrections are credited on the page if you want them to be. We do not publish games we cannot verify exist outside one group of friends, but we are happy to be convinced.

Drinks, responsibly

Every game here works with any drink in the cup, alcoholic or not. Where a game can get heavy, the page says so and the tips say how to slow it down. Please drink responsibly, look after each other, and never drive after playing.

DrinkPlays is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Some pages recommend one product that suits the game (a deck, a pong set, shot glasses). If you buy through those links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Products are chosen for the game, never the other way round, and every affiliate link is marked.
